Personal Experience
Meghan spent her first 18 years in Fort Benton, Montana. In 1997, Meghan graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Political Science and Communications from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and returned home to pursue her law degree at the University of Montana. Meghan has been a member of the Montana Bar since 2000, and spent her first four years at what was then the Cascade County Public Defender’s Office.
Since that time, Meghan has been in private practice both as a solo practitioner and with the firm of Sutton, DuBois and Mills. For several years, Meghan also served as the Fort Benton City Attorney. Meghan has served as the Cascade County Bar Association President, and sits on the boards of the Great Falls Children’s Receiving Home and Cascade County Law Clinic.
She was a member of the team that instituted Cascade County Drug Treatment Court programs for both adults and youths to Cascade County in the mid-2000s.
Meghan’s primary area of expertise is criminal defense and she has represented clients in every kind of case ranging from minor traffic tickets to Homicides. Meghan has obtained dismissals in Deliberate Homicides, Sexual crimes, DUIs, Assaults, and every other crime in between. Meghan is known as a fierce courtroom advocate, but also as someone who can reach across the aisle and seek a compromise when appropriate.
Other areas of expertise include family law, restraining orders and abuse and neglect cases, and she also has experience in wrongful death and personal injury cases.
Meghan can’t imagine living anywhere other than the great State of Montana and is an avid golfer (scoring a hole in one in 2016) and fisherwoman (stream fishing for brook trout is her favorite). In her spare time, Meghan loves to raft the river, travel, cheer for the Denver Broncos, and curl up with a good book.
